Supercool Music: A Living Article© Part 65: “He’s My Rock”

Now, this next song I’m reviewing is one that touched my heart deeply the very first time I heard it. 🙂 It was on The Moon Man’s 90.5FM radio show (streaming online at WKHSradio.org, as well as on the varying radio apps). This wise, witty and clever host, on a night some months ago, with just minutes remaining on that night’s show, announced he felt should play it. He even skipped his usual closing song in order to do so, because he felt so strongly that he ought to make sure he played that song right then. And I was one of the ones needing to hear such a song right then. 🙂 It was a great blessing from the Creator. 😎 The Moon Man played it every week for a good while and recently started playing it weekly again, much to my joy. ❤ This song was an immediate hit with his worldwide audience, garnering him many happy thank-you e-mails, calls, messages and requests for more play of it. 🙂 😎 I’ve been looking forward to typing this review; I put it on my list for this year’s reviews shortly after I first heard it. I pray it is a blessing and encouragement to you as well. 🙂

A beautiful, inspiring stream of music soars from a collection of stringed instruments, taking off and flying upward like a bird into the freedom of the heavenly skies. This is the very fitting opening of “He’s My Rock” by Leonard Green. 😎 🙂

The keys add their music next, a waterfall of notes follows then soon the man-made instruments section is joined by the best instrument on Earth, the one created by the Creator of all: the human voice. Leonard Green. has a voice that instantly reassures, comforts and uplifts your soul. 😎 And the words he sings are powerfully inspiring and good. Here’s some of what he says…

The Creator is right there with him at all times and is the Power that keeps him free from all the wrong temptations, with a strong foundation on which to build his dedication to the Creator. 😎 Freedom is a precious gift to be treasured and enjoyed.

The song swings into an equally-inspiring chorus. 🙂 He sings with sureness that the Creator is his Rock, “stronger than the mighty oak tree and wiser than you and me.” It is wonderful to know that. We don’t have to rely on ourselves; He is there for us. The One Who created us still cares for us, always has, always will.

The next verse tells how the Creator gives him the sight to see all of his abilities. The singer walks with Him. 😎 Leonard Green. also shares the inspiring information that although sometimes he doesn’t understand some things, he’ll never question the Creator because he knows he’s in His plans. The Creator is his Rock, as the chorus is repeated beautifully.

The lyrics continue to convey good things, like thanking the Creator for each day, as it says in haTehillim (the Psalms).

Encouraging words come to light next as he sings that when the road he is traveling seems too rough and he doesn’t have enough to handle it or the load that he is carrying feels like too much, he just calls on the Creator, Who has already been actively keeping things from being too much, taking it on Himself.

One of the sections most touching to my soul is when he sings poetically, “When my way is too dark I just can’t see, I just call on Him…” We don’t always know what’s going on or what’s ahead, but the Creator does, so He’s the One we need to talk to and to trust. He cares about each one of us. That’s why He said that He wanted all (Jew and Gentile both) to be saved and that’s why He sent haMashiach (the Messiah) to die in our place, paying for our imperfectness, so our souls could live forever.

“When I call His name, I can feel no pain.” It doesn’t mean we’ll never feel pain, but He can ease our pain in so many ways.

The Creator can help us to see what’s real and true, helping us comprehend the various aspects of a situation more fully and clearly and that’s good reason to call out His Name in a respectful, faithful prayer of hope.

“Still I won’t worry cause I understand He’ll take care of me because I’m in His plans.” Each individual has purpose and by faith in the Creator, we can see that. We don’t need to sink in despair; He’s available to be our Rock – He holds steady and is capable and willing to give us the help we need each and every day.

There is so much good stuff in this song; I could write a book about it. 😎 However, I try to keep these articles short enough for easy reading, so I had better sum this song review up soon. 😉

The music playing in the background – especially the strings – and the well-sung backing vocals adds to the song’s soul and has all of the right levels in heart, soul and volume. 😎 If you listen to this song, it will surely bless your own soul. 🙂 The Moon Man plays it often, along with other great music like blues, soul, Oldies, rock’n’roll – quite a variety from the 1950’s/60’s to hot-off-the-press. You might want to check out his show, and when you do, and you hear those bird-on-the-wing soaring strings begin, you’ll soon be enjoying the inspiring lyrics of “He’s My Rock.” 🙂
