Supercool Music: A Living Article© Part 95: Sweet Peace

Peace. We look for it, hope for it, long for it. In our homes, in our lives, in our hearts and in our souls. And it’s available to everyone. 🙂

Even in a restless world with no visible peace around us, the most important peace of all is readily available to each one of us – no matter where we are in the world. No matter where we have been, what we have done, what we have been through or are going through. The peace that passes all understanding – it’s so wonderful that our minds and hearts are awestruck by it – is waiting for us. 😎

The supercool song that I’m highlighting this month, “Sweet Peace” by the Youth Choir of the First Baptist Church of Nutley, New Jersey with lead vocals by Ronald Snead, in a youth choir of children ages 6-12 – such excellent, strong, musical voices! – tells us exactly where that priceless peace can be found. 😎 Here comes the answer…

The song conveys the strength of hope and truth in its very sound as well as in its lyrics. 😎 Yeshua/Jesus is the One Who can give us the true peace we need the most: peace with God, the Creator of the universe. 😎 When we put our faith in Him, we get that soul-deep peace that no one – absolutely no one – can take away from us.

The singers give us several examples of the joys of the peace Yeshua/Jesus gives. “He picks me up, turns me around, places my feet on solid ground.”

“He gave me peace.” That one sentence says so much; it speaks to your very soul. The singer encourages us to realize that Yeshua/Jesus is truly Who we need; He is the Answer to our every need. The Scriptures show us that clearly, too; our love letter from God. (John 3:16 is a favorite Scripture verse; have you gotten to read it yet? “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”)

There’s the joy of comfort and hope in the voice as Ronald sings, “When days are dark and nights are long, He’s the One Who gives me a song.” And also when he sings about when you don’t know what to do, He’s the One Who sees you through, when you have put your faith in Him – Yeshua/Jesus. “He gives me peace. Sweet peace.”

The manmade instruments, including piano, drums and organ (all played with respect and soul-stirring faith) follow the opening snap-crackling of the 45 – all music to my ears! 🙂 The melody is beautiful, the arrangement excellent. L. Roberts did a great job! 🙂 😎 The record, a 45rpm treasure (45 R.P.M. BSC 622 A), was released on Harvest Records (27 Elizabeth Avenue, Newark, N.J.). 🙂 It sounds great, too – the 45 itself, the Gospel/Doo Wop style and especially the beautiful song of true hope and peace for us all. Please give it a listen (or two or three or four… 🙂 ); it’s right here for you:
