Supercool Music: A Living Article© Part 44: I Believe

“I Believe” is a song that inspires, encourages, comforts and shows forth hope and deep joy. Clint Walker’s strong, steady voice is perfect for getting across the sureness of this song. 😎 His tone resonates the power that can be found when you believe in things that are true. This sixth track on his twelve-song LP, “Inspiration”, is two minutes and fifty-five seconds of exactly that: inspiration! 🙂

I’m reviewing while listening to the digital version I own – and I’m so delighted to hear the wonderful sounds of vinyl recording coming through the speakers! 🙂 There’s nothing quite like it. 😎

“I Believe” begins with the beautifully melodic rising “ahh’s” and lowering “ooo’s” of the Sunset Serenaders of Warner Bros. studios. 🙂 One bell chiming between ten and twelve seconds rings in the arrival of Cherokee Clint Walker’s noble vocals at thirteen seconds. 😎

He sings of the amazing workings of raindrops, like their ability to make beautiful things grow. 😎 The beautiful strum of a harp, an organ softly playing, a bell chime, and then Clint’s voice rises in volume to sing, “I believe that somewhere in the darkest night, a candle glows.” There is always light, no matter how dark things may seem – literally as well as figuratively. Literally: on a clear night with a dark, new moon, there is still light. If you step outside, having been indoors with man-made light, it would seem pitch-black to you. You wouldn’t be able to see much until your eyes adjusted. In much the same way, if we are blinded by the brightness of manufactured life, it sometimes takes us a while to see clearly what great things God has for us. Literally, if you are standing beneath the sky in the Creator’s pure light at sunset, your eyes will easily adjust to the darkening sky. The spiritual correlation is that if you’re focusing on the Creator’s ways instead of being overwhelmed by the world’s pressures and glitter, you can see the blessings in life much easier. 🙂

The Sunset Serenaders lend their melodic voices to this song at just the right moments, guided by an excellent arrangement and wise director who hears just how perfect it all comes together. 😎 I love the sound of the harp strings! 🙂

Clint’s gifted voice sings these next words of true hope: “I believe for every one who goes astray, someone will come to show the way.” The delivery of each word is perfectly timed and delivered to convey the certainty of the message. 😎 We’ve all naturally gone astray from our Creator, being imperfect humans, but He sent His Son, Yeshua/Jesus, to show us the way back to Him. 🙂 Yeshua/Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life; He is the only way back to peace with God. (That’s in the Scriptures in the book of John, chapter fourteen, verse six, if you’d like to check it out for yourself. 🙂 If you’re unfamiliar with Bibles, I recommend the King James Version as far as most-reliable-English-translations go. 🙂 ) Our shortcomings will keep us out of Heaven unless we put our faith in Yeshua/Jesus, Who paid for our mistakes with His own life over 2,000 years ago. And He arose, thereby conquering death and enabling us to live forever, too. Has anyone else ever loved us that much? No, because only God is big and powerful enough to do that. These truths are strong enough to make you free. Yeshua/Jesus is the only Friend we can’t live without.

Back to the song…

The Sunset Serenader’s voices swell. Clint sings with a solid knowing, these definite words, “I believe.” He sings out again with hope and assurance: “I believe.” Strong and sure. And that’s only the first minute of the song! 🙂

“I believe above the storm the smallest prayer will still be heard.” And that’s true, too. Even when you can’t even hear yourself, your heartfelt prayers of faith wing their way to the Creator. 😎 “I believe that Someone in the Great Somewhere, hears every word.” See? 🙂 The Creator, Who made and loves each one of us, is the Someone in the Great Somewhere – as it says in the Scriptures: God is so great neither the heavens nor the Earth can contain His greatness. He’s all around us. 🙂 You never need to ask the words, “God, where are you?!” Because the answer is this simple: He’s right there, waiting for you to trust Him to help you.

In the chorus of “I Believe”, Clint sings of the wonderful things the Creator blesses this world with, from miracles to the awesome beauty of His creation, like the sky above. Touching a leaf can be a powerful lesson itself. 😎 When you take time to notice the texture, the design, the amazing miracle of how it comes about, you can’t really help but be awed by this seemingly simple item. Seeing and hearing these daily miracles declare the Creator’s existence, power, love and care. 😎 Clint sings out with certainty, “Then I know why I believe!”

The Sunset Serenaders repeat the chorus section in soaring vocals then Clint finishes it with great vocal power. Building. Strengthening. Leaving no question that when you recognize the Creator’s love all around you amongst His creation, you can believe His love for you. 🙂
